Judith Millar

 
Judith Millar is an award-winning writer of short stories, essays, poems and song lyrics. She was awarded the 2009 John Kenneth Galbraith Literary Award in 2009 for her short story "The Insomniac," and was named a finalist in the Writers' Union of Canada 2009 Short Prose competition for her short story "Cerulean." (For other awards, see "Writing for Adults.") She is based in Nanaimo, B.C., Canada.

 
Judy currently focuses on creative writing projects - both serious and humorous - for adults. She is working on a novel and a collection of short stories. She is also in demand as a spoken-word performer of her original material - either solo, as part of the reading/performing duo WordChickz, or as part of the Vancouver Island writing group, Easy Writers.

A former corporate communications manager in Waterloo, Ontario, she has also written song lyrics for children (see song lyrics at RONNOsong) and a humorous blog MillarLITE (currently on hiatus, but you can enjoy past posts).She has earned awards for her corporate and children's writing in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.

Judith is a member of the Federation of BC Writers, the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), and the Nanaimo Arts CouncilShe also enjoys serving on the crew of WordStorm, Nanaimo’s popular spoken-word event.

She moved to beautiful Vancouver Island in 2007 - and warns that taking Vancouver Island vacation might prompt you to do the same.
